Before I get into the surprise that Nick stumbled across today I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Anthony and I'm the co-editor of The Dead Come Blogging. However, feel free to call me Frankie because that's what people have called me since well before the beginning of the apocalypse. I was introduced to the Walking Dead by the creator of this blog and my best bud, Nick. But instead of giving you all my life story, how about we get into some serious spoilers. In efforts to preserve the integrity of this blog I suggest that any person who does not wish for S04E09 to be SPOILED I suggest you STOP READING NOW. Earlier today Nick found a plot summary of tonight's up coming episode and I hope you all enjoy it! Nick and I will be working later tonight after the episode officially airs to make some posts about our reactions to the episode and maybe even a little speculating! Scene opens with an overhead shot of the prison. We see Michonne working her way through the walkers to get inside the prison. She finds rope and cuts off the arms of two walkers, making them into new pets. Flame is dead on the ground. We see the dead Governor on the ground, bullet hole through his head. Michonne finds Hershel’s head on the ground. He has turned. She barely hesitates as she plunges her katana into his temple. Then she gently closes his eyes and walks away. Cue opening credits.
Carl and Rick are walking along a wooded path, Carl is striding further and further away from Rick. “Slow down!” Rick yells. Carl has an intense look on his face, but waits for Rick to catch up. Rick puts his hand on Carl’s shoulder and tries to say that everything will be okay, but cannot finish the sentence due to Carl’s angry glare. Carl doesn’t want to hear it. Carl walks away and Rick looks after him, confused.
The find Joe Jr’s bar/burger shack. Rick goes up to the door and tells Carl to keep watch. Carl replies by saying “YOU keep watch.” Rick replies, “Excuse me?” Carl tells him that he (Rick) can barely even stand and that he is going to help him clear the bar. He even remarks that he should just do it himself. Rick relents and they go in together. After clearing the kitchen, Rick and Carl find a walker barricaded by some furniture. It is apparently Joe Jr., the owner. Carl raises his gun to shoot him but Rick says no, that he will lure the walker out and axe him in the head. Carl looks down to see a handwritten note that reads, “Please do what I couldn’t. –Joe Jr.” Rick lures Joe Jr. out and axes him, but Rick is weak and the axe does not stop the walker. Carl shoots. Rick berates him for shooting, telling him they have to save every bullet. The leave the bar.
The next scene finds Michonne coming out of the woods with her pets and finding the same path Rick and Carl took. She clearly sees their tracks, contemplates, then crosses the road and goes into the woods on the other side.
Rick and Carl are in a neighborhood now. They find a house and go in to clear it. Carl is very snarky with Rick and Rick keeps telling Carl what to do. Carl is fed up and bangs on the walls and says, “HEY ASS HOLE! HEY SHIT FACE!” Rick tells him to watch his mouth. Carl tells Rick that if there were walkers there they would have come out by now. Carl walks off to continue exploring the house. He finds a teenager’s room full of posters, electronics, gaming system, tv, etc. He looks around in wonder until he sees his reflection in the television. He snaps back to reality and yanks the cord from the back of the tv.
Rick is in a bathroom stripping down to inspect his wounds. His ribs appear to be broken and he is having a terrible time drawing breath. He stares at his reflection in the mirror and the scene cuts away.
They are both back downstairs now and Carl has tied the door knob to something to keep it from opening. Rick wants to move the couch in front of the door anyway. Carl says, “What, you don’t think it will hold? It’s a clove hitch. Shane taught me. Remember him?” Rick is taken aback by this and they argue briefly. Rick tries to get him to eat and Carl refuses. Lots of animosity from Carl.
(Flashback) Michonne is standing in a kitchen chopping vegetables. She is talking to her brother and her husband, Mike. They are having a conversation about an art show of some kind and talking about how lame it was. Michonne is talking, but she reaches down to clean her knife with a towel. As the towel moves down the knife, it turns into her katana. It is her katana we see her put back in the knife block.
Michonne turns around again to talk to the men and this time their clothes are worn and dirty. Her son comes into the room. He is about 18 months old. She walks over to talk to the men with her son in her arms. The men appear to be discussin what to do next. (Her pre-ZA dream is mixing with her ZA dream.) Mike says that he doesn’t think they can go on. One of the men asks Michonne, “Why?” The other asks her, “What’s the answer?” She looks down and her son is gone and looks up again and the men have their arms cut off. Michonne begins screaming. And then Michonne wakes from her dream and we find her sleeping in a car, her zombie pets still tied to the car outside.
We’re back to Rick and Carl in the house. It is morning and Rick has slept on the couch by the door while Carl slept upstairs in the teenager’s room. Carl comes in to wake Rick and he will not wake. He begins yelling, “Wake up!” This draws the attention of two walkers to the front door. Carl leaves the house out the back door and peeks around the corner. (This begins the sneak peek scene.) Carl leads the two walkers away down the road and into a back yard of some kind. He doesn’t notice the walker coming up behind him. It catches him off guard and he stumbles. He fights all three walkers and uses his gun to shoot all three, but not before all three fall on top of him. He gets out from underneath them and throws up. Then he straightens and says, “I win.”

The next scene is Michonne traveling through the woods with a small walker herd and her pets. She sees a woman walker that looks very similar to her. She looks away. When she looks back, the woman is not there. She continues on.
Back at the house, Carl has decided to go find more food. Before he leaves, he lets loose on a sleeping Rick. He makes a passionate speech to Rick about how he (Carl) saved him. He then tells Rick everything is his fault. That he hid and played farmer while the Governor was out there and Rick knew it. He said he couldn’t protect anyone – Hershel, Judith, mom… He finishes his tirade by saying, “You were supposed to be their leader. Now you’re nothing. I’d be fine if you died.”
Carl is now walking through the neighborhood and finds another house. He picks up a yard path light and tries to ram the door. He promptly falls backwards because he’s not strong enough to break the door. He manages to jimmy the lock and wanders around the kitchen and finds some food. He even finds a large can of chocolate pudding. Carl takes the light (which has a pointy metal end) up the stairs to clear the upper level. Two rooms are clear. The third one has a walker trying to burst out and Carl isn’t strong enough to close the door. As the walker falls out into the hallway, Carl runs into the room and tries to get out a window. It won’t open enough. The walker gets back into the room and goes after Carl. Lots of struggle. The walker has Carl’s foot a few times and its mouth several inches away. Carl’s shoe comes off. Carl runs out the door and manages to get all the books and junk out of the way and shut the door. He writes on the door, “Walker inside. Got my shoe. Didn’t get me.” Then we see Carl on the roof of the house eating the can of pudding, while the walker tries to reach him from the partially open window.
The next scene is Michonne again in the woods. She sees the walker woman again who looks like her. This time, she doesn’t ignore it. She takes out her katana and dispatches all of the walkers in the herd, about 15. Then stands and cries silently for a short moment. Michonne leaves the woods and goes back to the path where she saw Rick and Carl’s tracks. She decides to follow them. She makes it to Joe Jr.’s bar and finds the walker on the floor. She sits down by the door and talks to herself and to Mike. She tells him “It wasn’t you” who did that. She says she misses him and that he could be here with her right now and so could their son. (My interpretation of this is that Mike killed their son so that their son would not have to live in this world.) She looks up and says to herself, “I know why. I know the answer.” Michonne leaves the bar.
Back at the house it is dark and Rick is still asleep. Carl wakes up when he hears Rick’s rasping breath. It sounds like a walker’s growl. Rick’s arm slowly comes up and we hear more sounds. Rick falls off the couch. We still don’t see his face. Carl grabs his gun, ready to shoot walker Rick. He is crying now and aiming the gun. Finally he puts the gun down and says that he was wrong, he can’t shoot him. He tells walker Rick to “just do it.” Then we hear Rick say, “Carrrrllll.” He’s alive. Carl cradles Rick in his lap and tells him over and over that he’s scared.
When Rick wakes up and he and Carl have a heart to heart talk. Rick tells Carl that he is a man and that he is sorry. Carl tells him that he doesn’t need to be.
Michonne has now found the neighborhood and sees the empty can of pudding on the ground. She goes to the door and sees Rick and Carl through the window. She begins to tear up in relief. She knocks on the door. Inside the house, Rick and Carl jump up and Rick goes to the door and look through the peephole. His shoulders sag with relief and he turns around, smiling and looks at Carl and says, “It’s for you.”
